What If Christianity Is Actually True?
You may be skeptical of Christianity. You may wonder whether God exists, whether science has made faith unnecessary, whether the Bible can be trusted, or whether religion is simply something people use to make life feel meaningful.
Those are fair questions.
You do not have to shut off your mind, ignore science, or pretend you have no doubts in order to consider Jesus Christ.
Christian faith involves trust...but not trust without reasons.
So here is a simple question worth asking: What explanation of reality makes the most sense of the world we actually live in?
Is Unbelief Really the “No-Faith” Position?
We all begin with basic beliefs about reality. One person believes that matter, energy, and natural processes are ultimately all that exist. Another believes the universe depends upon a Creator.
Science can investigate the natural world extraordinarily well. But science itself cannot prove that nature is all that exists. That is a philosophical conclusion.
So the real choice is not “faith versus facts.” It is between different ways of making sense of the facts.
Why Isn’t God More Obvious?
If God wants us to know Him, why doesn’t He simply make Himself unmistakably visible?
Christianity teaches that God has made Himself known, but not yet in His unveiled presence. Sin has separated humanity from God, yet He still reveals Himself through creation, conscience, Scripture, and ultimately Jesus Christ.
And simply seeing God would not automatically produce trust. In the Bible, people witnessed extraordinary acts of God, even stood before Jesus, and still rejected Him.
So why faith?
Because faith suits grace. Salvation is not something we earn, achieve, or prove. It is a gift received by trusting what God has revealed and resting in what Christ has done.
For now, we walk by faith. Scripture promises a day when God’s people will “see his face” (Revelation 22:4).
Is There Good Reason to Believe?
No single argument proves everything. But taken together, several features of reality deserve serious consideration.
Why Is There Anything at All?
The universe exists...but why? Why is there something rather than nothing? Why does a contingent universe exist at all?
Christianity answers that the universe does not explain itself. It ultimately depends upon an eternal Creator.
Why Is the Universe So Ordered?
Nature behaves according to remarkably consistent laws. Mathematics describes the physical world. Human minds are capable of discovering those laws. The universe also appears finely suited for complex life.
None of that proves Christianity by itself. But it raises a reasonable question: Why should a mindless universe be so deeply ordered, intelligible, and life-permitting? Christianity says the order of creation reflects the mind of its Creator.
Why Does Life Contain Information?
DNA is not merely complicated chemistry. It contains information-bearing sequences operating within an astonishing system of copying, translation, regulation, repair, and reproduction.
Science continues to investigate how the first living systems arose, and Christians should welcome that work.
But the deeper question remains: Why does matter possess the ability to store, interpret, and use biological information at all?
When we encounter complex, functionally specified information in other areas of life...language, software, engineering...we normally associate it with intelligence. At the very least, life gives us reason to consider Mind as an ultimate explanation.
Why Are We Conscious, Rational, and Moral?
You do more than exist.
You know that you exist.
You reason. Love. Remember. Imagine. Grieve. Hope. Feel guilt. Recognize beauty. Ask whether something is right or wrong.
Why should unconscious matter ultimately produce conscious persons capable of reasoning about truth and feeling genuine moral obligation?
Christianity offers a coherent answer: We are more than matter because we were made by a personal God and in His image.
And Then There Is Jesus
Christianity does not finally rest on philosophical arguments. It rests on a Person.
Jesus of Nazareth lived in history. He taught with extraordinary authority, made remarkable claims about Himself, was crucified, and became the center of a movement proclaiming Him as Lord.
His earliest followers claimed something even more dramatic: Jesus rose from the dead.
They did not merely say His teachings lived on or that His spirit inspired them. They proclaimed that the crucified Jesus was alive.
If that happened, the question of God is no longer merely philosophical. It becomes personal. Who is Jesus Christ?
What About the Bible?
The Bible tells one unfolding story across centuries: creation, human rebellion, promise, redemption, Jesus Christ, and restoration.
Christians believe it is God’s revelation to humanity. That does not mean every passage is easy or every question has a quick answer. We simply invite you to read it for yourself.
If you are unsure where to begin, start with the Gospel of John and ask one question as you read:
Who does Jesus claim to be?
Christianity Does Not Need Science to Fail
Christian faith should never depend upon saying: “Science cannot explain this, therefore God did it.”
Science may eventually explain many processes we do not understand today. That does not remove God.
Understanding how rain forms does not prove there is no Creator. Understanding genetics does not explain why there is a universe capable of life, information, consciousness, reason, and moral awareness in the first place.
Discovering how something works does not necessarily answer why anything exists to work that way at all.
So keep asking questions. Christians should not fear honest investigation.
But Eventually the Question Becomes Personal
If God is real, you are not an accident.
If God is holy, then our sin matters.
And if Jesus Christ died and rose again, then Christianity is not simply an interesting explanation of reality.
It is good news.
The Bible says:
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
-Romans 3:23
Our deepest problem is not lack of education, technology, or self-improvement.
We are separated from God.
But God has acted to bring us back.
Jesus Christ lived the righteous life we have not lived. He died for our sins. He rose again.
Salvation is not something we earn.
It is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
What Does It Mean to Believe?
Biblical faith is more than admitting that God probably exists. It means placing your trust in Jesus Christ.
You do not need to solve every intellectual question before coming to Him. No one knows everything.
The question is whether you have good reason to believe Christ is true...and whether you are willing to trust Him.
If you are ready to come to Christ, you can speak to God honestly:
A Simple Prayer
“Lord God, I know that I am a sinner and cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died for my sins and rose again. Please forgive me and save me. I place my trust in Jesus Christ alone. Help me to follow You. Amen.”
The prayer itself does not save you.
Jesus saves.
The prayer simply expresses a heart turning to Him in faith.
Still Not Sure?
That is okay.
Keep asking.
Read the Gospel of John. Investigate the resurrection. Examine the evidence. Ask difficult questions.
And remain open to one possibility: What if the God you are looking for has already made Himself known in Jesus Christ?
Jesus said:
“Seek and you will find.”
